Buenos dias mi gente! If you don’t know the source of my title, you may find yourself a bit lost in some of my references and jokes on this page jajaja Yes, that’s a laugh in Spanish, which you will see often because my page es muy Spanglish. The title is from none other, la Reina de tejano music: SELENA! Legendary. Un te calientito and my bowl of oatmeal for this cold, rainy and early morning. Let’s get into the chisme, chismosas.
Today is my launch day! The day I open up this page to those close to me and keep you coming back day after day. Bueno, eso espero!
Writing has always been a passion of mine, as is reading. Since becoming a mama, I’ve had many experiences, changed in unexpected ways, been praised and doubted, but above all I have found a love so deep and am learning to take it one day at a time. Side note: One day at a time is one of my fav shows on Netflix, so check it out if you haven’t. So many mamas to look up to, some who walk beside me and even those following behind – have all had an impact on my motherhood journey. There is so much to share and learn from each of us, because we are all so different.
Another mom blog… how original. *cue eyeroll* <— That right there, my biggest set back. I put this off for almost 2 years! My fear and insecurities halted all of my ideas, while my anxiety anchored me in some infierno of a place. Que feo, right? It took me all that time to realise that yeah, obviamente there are a ton of mom blogs, because there are a ton of moms and we all bring something different to the table. Each and every one of our stories through this ‘hood is just as special, just as valuable and just as helpful to someone out there!
Asi que, aqui estoy! Just like those mamas I follow on Instagram, or subscribe to their youtube vlog, or read their published books – I can be one of those moms, as a matter of fact, I’m already one of those moms. Si, tu tambien! Doesn’t mean you may decide to share your journey through any kind of art form, but by experiencing it and sharing it through your day to day with your loved ones, you are already influencing someone, somewhere, somehow. So do you boo, es tu vida, vivela!
I write what I want to read. Remember how as a chamaca you always chose the barbie or Disney princess that looked most like you? Well, it was hard then and it’s still hard now. We all need people to look up to, to inspire us and to motivate us into using our unique selves towards whatever we may dream. I’m that small town, Canadian roots and Mexican blood of a mama living in the GTA, working as a teacher, raising two chamacos, keeping things spicy with mi amor and trying to follow my dreams. So come follow me, read what I have to share & I will spark some fiery, latina sass into our everyday lives. Orale!
